Bikes must meet certain safety requirements before kids hit the track, but riders don’t need top-of-the-line equipment to participate. Ryan Hullinger remembers starting out with a “Planet Earth” bike from Dick’s Sporting Goods. He has progressed through several bikes since, and now rides a “Standard” frame bike better suited to his racing needs.Racers pick up speed coming down the track’s straightaways.
